Saturday Activities in Bessemer

Saturday morning started with the Bessemer Hometown race. Mom decided on the 2 mile race. The course was downhill for the first half, and uphill for the second. Even though the race was early, it was already really hot.

Mom is getting her tunes ready.

Runners before the starting horn.

Mom's cheering section.

Running uphill for the finish. Mom placed third in her age group, only about 20 seconds behind second (and the water bottle prize). Overall finish was in the top third. Not too bad.

After everyone cooled down, we headed to the park where the Ann Arbor hands-on Children's Museum had all kinds of science experiments for the kids to participate in.

Antacid bottle rockets.

Fun with magnets.

Finally, we got to go and visit our cousin, Lucy and have dinner at her house. What a fun day!

Visit to Bessemer - Sunday Lake

We had a great trip visiting Grandma and Grandpa up in the U.P. The first stop on the trip was Sunday Lake. It was close to 90 degrees, so going to the beach seemed like a good idea. First order of business was to wrap up all the broken bones in the family. Towels, plastic bags, and lots of tape kept everyone dry.

Alyssa got to get COMPLETELY wet. She was excited about that!

Cameron got boat rides and was really good about staying dry - especially in the extreme heat.

Madelyn was imitating lady liberty keeping her arm dry and clean.

Snack time with Grandma and Grandpa.

Building sandcastles are a necessary part of beach time!

Good-bye Kindergarten!

Alyssa had her end of the year kindergarten party on the hottest day of the year! Not a cloud in the sky, and close to 100 degrees! Good thing there were plenty of activities to keep cool.

First Bounce...

..then slide through the sprinkler!

Popsicle break!

Fruity drink? Alyssa LOVED the umbrella, and now requires them in all of her drinks!

On to first grade. Where has the time gone? We are so proud of you, Alyssa!

Sports

Another soccer season has come and gone. Madelyn spent most of the season playing goalie. She did AWESOME! She received several compliments from parents and opposing coaches. She even used her face once to stop a ball. She made the save, and only had a fat lip!

Madelyn also ran her first mile race. She ran the whole whole race without stopping to walk. She even passed mom with her sprint at the end. Future runner in the family.

Polish Night

Friday night we headed down to Comerica Park for Polish night. The weather was somewhat cooperative, but we still managed to have a great time. Alyssa and Cameron got in a quick cat nap on the ride down there!

Alyssa and Amber got to be partners again!

Sisters!

Cameron and Morgan taking a break from being carried. They held hands so no one got lost.

Lining up on the field.

Madelyn, Alyssa, and Amber made it on the big screen!

Clapping to the beat!

Game time! Nothing says "ball game" like a mouth full of cotton candy!

Cameron was happy as long as his ears were covered.

Amber, Cameron, and Morgan enjoying their suckers. "Suga, Suga, Suga!"

7th inning stretch!

Daddy and Cam - fun times at the CoPa!

May School Events

Madelyn and Alyssa had a few events at school this month that we want to share. Right after Mother's Day, the Kindergarten classes hosted a "mommy makeover." We lucky moms got our make-up applied and hair styled by our kindergartener. What a treat! You can see that Alyssa really has a gift in giving make-overs! What a fun afternoon!

Alyssa was obviously thrilled to start with the Mother's day concert!

Madelyn has been working hard for over a month in her wax museum project. She did her presentation on Serena Williams. She did a great job!

Happy 3rd Birthday, Cameron

Apparently, we are so busy at the Brown house, that we cannot update this blog! Happy Birthday to our big boy, Cameron who turned 3 the day after Easter. I don't know where the time has gone, but he is growing up so fast.
